I think what's happening here is by labeling the envelope "Do Not Bend", the second clerk considered it to fall under the classification of "Non-machinable Flat". In general, I'm finding they get you for everything these days, and always try to upsell services. committed to delivering it? Or can it still come back with postage due. The question is, when the first clerk charged me and accepted the envelope, was the P.O. Postal clerk #2 said that writing "don't bend" turns it into a parcel, and it cost almost two bucks. Today, I sent same thing at different P.O. Yesterday I sent a small photo in a 6x9 envelope with a piece of cardboard inside, and marked it "Do Not Bend." Postal clerk charged less than a buck. ![]() If you place "DO NOT BEND" on the package, it is basically requesting they do not bend the envelope or package and under the USPS code of services, that means the package or envelope is considered Parcel post. I know that sounds weird, but regular first class mail has some types of bending requirements, whereas Parcel packages do not.
